Biggest Blog Post Ever: Challenge Roth 2026 Recap is Out!

Including many other races I did in the meantime.

1st of September, 2026

Moinsen, everyone! 👋

It took me a while to put together this big new blog post about my most ambitious goal of the year, finishing Challenge Roth long-distance triathlon in less than 10 hours. The race is a whopping 8 weeks in the past already, time flies!

On the other hand, you’ll now get the most detailed review I’ve ever written. 🤩 It’s over 25.000 words long (some books reach the same amount) with 70 pictures, and the podcast episode I recorded for it takes nearly 3:00 hours to listen to! I’ve ran marathons in less time 😅.

I hope you’ll appreciate it — please let me know your opinion! Without further ado, here’s the big link. Read on if you’d like to find out what I’ve been up to since then and what my immediate plans are.

The weeks after that day in southern Germany have been full to the brim. That’s mainly because I’ve got four kids and the summer holidays had just started and went on for six weeks. We’ve been to 🇩🇰 Helle Strand, Denmark and spent time on the beach having amazing soft-serve ice-cream, I’ve taken my oldest daughter on a short trip to see and explore 🇸🇪 Stockholm, Sweden, my wife and I had a little getaway to 🇬🇧 Farnham/Ashford, UK while I ran an ultramarathon over there, and finally I took all four kids to spend a week in 🇦🇹 Zell am See, Austria, hiking the mountains but mainly cooling off in the lake. European tour!

All of it has been truly great. Well except for the outcome of my ultramarathon in the UK, but you’ll read about that in detail in an upcoming blog post.

Now that things are slowly starting to normalize again I’ve had lots of fun putting together the Challenge Roth blog post. As you’ll see in it, there are a bunch of other triathlon races I’ve done since then — but the most fun one has been Otterndorf Triathlon two days ago, where I came second place of 200 participants! It was a sprint distance race (500 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run, my splits were 7:45, 36:22, 18:44 for a total of 1:04:54 including the transitions) and just one guy, who by the way is 20 years younger than me, was faster that day. I can’t hide I’m quite proud of that, and they even gave me a little trophy! The cherry on top was that my friend Mathias came in 3rd place, so we got to share the podium once again after Heldenlauf Halbmarathon a few years back.

Turns out I’m good at triathlons after all!

But now that the summer is coming to an end, my triathlon races are over, too. Next up are a few marathons. On the coming weekend I’ll be carrying the 3:15 hours flag as a pacer at Flensburg Marathon — a wonderful race I’ve been at many times; and the the weekend after I’ll do the same for the people who want to run a 3:45 hours result at Bremen Marathon, also a great experience.

And after those, it’ll be back to training! Because I’ve got a big ultramarathon coming up on October 30. It’s a new addition: the CPS at Mallorca by UTMB. Lots of abbreviations there. The full name is Camins de Pedra en Sec by Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc. It’s a 104 kilometer race in the mountains of northwestern Mallorca, the mediterranean island belonging to Spain. 3,700 meters of elevation gain means that I’ll need to hit the hills in training again! Looking forward to it.

With regards to my bookshelf, no additions since the past newsletter. Because, you know, summer. I’ve been making slow progress in two books which both are quite lengthy, Happy by Derren Brown and What Is Intelligence? by Blaise Aguera y Arcas. Interesting books, but they both need full focus. That’s something I wasn’t able to expend during the past couple of months.

But that’s okay, summers are for summer-ing, I believe. I can read more in the fall and winter.

And that shall conclude today’s newsletter update. I really hope you’ll enjoy my new blog post (or listening to the podcast episode if that’s more for you) and please let me know your opinion.

All the best to you,
— Teesche
